A goal in each half by striker Oran Molony saw Cabinteely claim their first away this season in Group A of the U19 EA Sports League of Ireland National Underage League.
Under blazing sunshine at the Carlisle Grounds on Thursday evening, the away side claimed bragging rights in the East Coast derby courtesy of the 2-1 success.
In truth though, the visitors spurned a series of chances – especially in the opening period – to put the result beyond doubt.
Cabo took a fourth-minute lead when Molony disposed a Bray defender and burst into the box off the right-wing. He then drilled low expertly to the bottom far corner to make it 1-0.
But Wanderers drew level in the 11th minute. Eoin Greene created space off the right flank to fire a stunning 25-yard left-footed shot that found the top left-hand corner of the net.
Yet before the interval, Lee McEvoy headed straight at the Bray keeper Cian Connors (35); Zach Donoghue was superbly denied by Connors (41) while Molony scuffed over close in on 44.
That attacking trend continued after the turnaround around. McEvoy saw his long-range effort brilliantly tipped onto the bar by Connors after 51 minutes.
The decisive and deserved score came in the 63rd minute. Luke O’Connor’s angled pass from defence was helped on from the right channel by Ben Houton. Molony got there ahead of the last defender to steer his angled shot on the run from just inside the penalty area to the far bottom corner.
After that, the defence of custodian Ben Clark, full-backs Houton and Donoghue along with central defenders Luke O’Connor and Paddy Quinn-Glennon saw out the game comfortably to take the three points.
The team returns to Ballycorus on Sunday to face Treaty United (kick-off 4.30pm).
