Football opportunities for players with additional needs

Our Football For All programme is designed for children and adults with additional needs and disabilities who would benefit from a more inclusive and adapted football environment.

Players take part at a level suited to their ability, with coaching focused on confidence, enjoyment, skill development and being part of a team.

Cabinteely FC participates in the FAI Football For All Club Programme and has worked with organisations including Special Olympics Ireland and Enable Ireland to provide inclusive football opportunities within our community.

FOOTBALL FOR ALL

Pumas

Ages 12+
All Abilities

Our Pumas programme gives children the opportunity to enjoy regular football sessions in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Coaching is adapted to suit the needs and ability of each player, with the focus on participation, confidence, development and enjoyment.

What happens at a session?

Sessions use familiar football activities, adapted where required so that players can participate at a level that suits their individual ability and needs.

01

Warm Up

Simple movement and football activities designed to get everyone comfortable and involved.

02

Skills & Drills

Passing, movement, ball control and shooting activities adapted to suit the players taking part.

03

Mini Matches

Small-sided games with the emphasis on participation, teamwork and enjoyment.

Players are grouped by ability

Rather than organising every team purely by age, inclusive football can use a process known as divisioning. This allows players to participate alongside others with a similar footballing ability.

It helps create more balanced, appropriate and enjoyable sessions and matches, and can mean players of different ages playing together where their ability levels are similar.

Interested in joining Football For All?

If you have a child or family member with additional needs who would like to play football, we’d be happy to talk to you about the programme and whether it may be suitable for them.

We’re also always interested in hearing from volunteers who would like to help with our Football For All sessions. Football experience can be useful, but enthusiasm, patience and a willingness to help are just as important.

Come and be part of it

Our aim is simple: to give children and adults with additional needs the opportunity to enjoy football, develop their skills and feel part of Cabinteely FC.
