7.45 p.m.
All roads lead along the N11 for the second year in a row as Cabinteely kick off their 2020 SSE Airtricity League First Division season with a home ‘East Coast Derby’ against Bray Wanderers.
MANAGEMENT TEAM VIEW
With a big crowd expected at Stradbrook, Cabinteely Assistant Manager/First Team Coach Eddie Gormley believes the squad are ready to go for 2020.
“It’s been a hectic six-weeks of pre-season training. I think the players are looking forward to Friday night and getting the season kicked off. It will be a tough game against Bray. Like last season, I don’t think there will be any easy games in the league this year.”
Player View
Installed as Cabinteely club captain for 2020, Conor Keeley is honoured to take the armband.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be named captain. I’m looking forward to leading the team this season,” said the defender.
“We have a lot of new faces. The lads have settled in well within the group. We have a lot of quality players, so competition for places will be there.”
TEAM NEWS
New signings for Cabinteely in 2019 include goalkeepers Michael Kelly and Corey Chambers; defenders Ciaran Grogan, Lloyd Buckley and Lee Murray; midfielders Eoin McPhilips and Dylan Thornton as well as attackers Kaito Akimoto and Ryusei Kojima.
But the ‘Green Line’ continues with Aaron Byrne, Andrew Byrne, Mark Soper, Cian Kelly and Jamie Egan promoted from the club’s U17 and U19 ranks.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The game will be only the fourth time that the teams have met in league action – the previous three were all in the 2019 season.
Back in February 2019 on the opening day of the season, Bray won 3-0 at Stradbrook with second half goals by Dylan McGlade (2) and Dean O’Hallorhan.
Then in April 2019 at the Carlisle Grounds, it ended with honours even at 1-1. Jake Ellis put the Wicklow side ahead. But Vilius Labutis equalised in the second period.
Back at Stradbrook in July 2019, Yuta Sasaki scored a late winner in a 2-1 success for Cabo. Paul Fox had given the home team the lead which was cancelled out by Dylan McGlade.
The teams also met in the Leinster Senior Cup last March 2019. Cabinteely won 2-1 at the Carlisle Grounds. Luke Clucas and Sean Fitzpatrick netted for Cabo with Luke Jovic replying for the Seagulls.
