SSE Airtricity League First Division

Friday March 26, 2021

7.45 p.m.

Cabinteely history will be made on Friday as we kick off the 2021 SSE Airtricity League First Division season away to Wexford FC – our first road trip in an opening day fixture.
Since joining the League back in 2015, we have entertained Wexford (2015 and 2018); Athlone Town (2016); UCD (2017) and Bray Wanderers (2019 and 2020) all at Stradbrook in the very first match of each campaign.

MANAGEMENT TEAM VIEW

As we prepare to meet Wexford for the third time on the opening day in seven years, Cabinteely Director of Football Pat Devlin is predicting a very tight season with every one of the ten clubs aspiring to do well.
“We are looking forward to the season. Our preparations have gone quite well. It is going to be a tough game against Wexford.”
He continued “It is all about results and performances. It is going to be a difficult League to navigate for a variety of reasons. Every club has recruited well.”

TEAM NEWS

Apart from long-term absentee – goalkeeper Peter Quinlan (knee) – we have a full squad available.

REFEREE

Mark Moynihan will referee the game. He will be assisted by Ricky Crean and David Connolly. The fourth official is Kevin O’Sullivan.
