Match Report – U11.1 DDSL Girls Clondalkin Celtic 4 Cabinteely FC 7
Cabo’s U11 girls travelled to recently promoted Clondalkin Celtic on Sunday last at St. Cuthberts Park.
It was a tight game for the first 15 minutes as both teams fought hard to find the advantage.
The visitors then went up with a goal from striker Ava Magee after a nice passing move down the right wing.
Another goal from Ruby Hennessy soon followed. Hennessy was in the right place at the right time to convert as the ball crossed into the box.
Daisy Casey – who had a great game at centre midfield – then made it 3-0 with a fine shot.
However, the hosts fought back pull a goal on the stroke of half time.
Clondalkin’s half-time team talk paid dividends as they came out determined. They made it 3-2 just after the interval.
However, Cabo dug in and weathered the storm with some excellent defending from Juno Ormsby, Sophie Degraeve and Nicole Fagan.
Magee scored her second of the match from a beautifully floated Lauren Fagan corner to restore the White and Green’s two goal cushion.
Amelia Smialek was rewarded for all her hard work, scoring from a wonderful direct free kick that whistled into the top right corner of the net for the away outfits fifth strike.
But again, ‘Celtic rallied and scored two more goals in quick succession to reduce the deficit to 5-4.
Cabo goalkeeper Sammy Wride kept her team in front with a couple of great reflex saves. The away side were then awarded a penalty. Magee gained her first hat-trick, slotting in the spot-kick.
It was then the turn of the Clondalkin custodian to make vital blocks to keep her team in the contest.
But Cabo finished off with a second goal of the encounter from Casey to make it a well-deserved 7-4 success in what was a very entertaining and exciting match.
