The final score-line didn’t reflect the true nature of the U19 EA Sports National Underage League Shield Group A game.
Dundalk had two half chances and took them both in the first half to lead 2-0 at the interval this afternoon at Oriel Park.
Cabo played excellent football from start to finish but just couldn’t take any of the dozen opportunities that were created.
The Lilywhite’s first score was a breakaway through Ebuka Kwelele after a period of sustained pressure on the Dundalk goal.
The second goal right on half time came after a blocked clearance that fell to Kwelele who converted.
The White and Green’s created many chances throughout with several free kicks around their home box. But just couldn’t find the vital finishes.
The teams management were delighted with the all-round performances all over the pitch.
Some of the build-up play was exceptional and the physical effort was the best all season. Cabinteely are idle next weekend. They return to Ballycorus on Sunday, October 10 when hosting Bray Wanderers.
