U13 C v Mount Merrion
Mount Merrion (0) Cabinteely (2)
Cabo (2009) Boys U13C1’s made the short journey on Saturday to face Mount Merrion/UCD – playing their first match against a non-Cabinteely team since September 2020 – on a gloriously sunny day.
Cabo took control of the game immediately and were very rarely under threat from the opposition. Despite this, the away defence kept to their jobs and concentration.
Our midfield pushed Mount Merrion back into defensive mode for the whole match. The home club were strong in their last line of defence with several blocks plus good saves from their Goalkeeper, who kept the game score-less for the first half.
Cabo came out in the second half and picked up where they left off. Visiting keeper, Cian Hapil came out of goal for the second period and won a free kick at the edge of the box. His resulting free kick was not dealt with by the Merrion defence and Olan Callan-Mooney powered to the net.
Shortly after, Hapil again provided the assist for Callan-Mooney to make it 2-0.
The players really enjoyed the game and can be happy with their strong performance. The managers were happy with the controlled performance and good passing throughout, along with a clean sheet.
