Cabinteely FC v Cork City Match Preview

Cabinteely FC Press Release

Team News vs Cork City

SSE Airtricity League First Division

Friday April 2, 2021

7.45 p.m.

History will be made on Friday as we welcome Cork City to Stradbrook for the first ever Airtricity League First Division match between the clubs.

After a hard earned 2-1 victory over Wexford FC on the opening day of the 2021 season last week, Cabinteely Director of Football Pat Devlin is looking forward to the Cork game.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Cork to Stradbrook. We played them a couple of years ago in the FAI Cup. That was a great game. We were unfortunate to lose on penalties that night.”
He went on to say “Cork are a great club with a great tradition. They are synonymous with League of Ireland football. They are a Premier Division club. Unfortunately for them, they are in the First Division. We will give them a game. Let us hope we can get the right result.”

Apart from long-term absentee – goalkeeper Peter Quinlan (knee) – we have a full squad available.

Alan Carey will referee the game. He will be assisted by Philip Harrison and Chris Campbell. The fourth official is Gavin Colfer.

This game will be brought to you live on – the new home of Cabinteely FC match streams. Make sure you sign up at LOITV and pick Cabinteely FC as your favourite team!

This is the first league meeting between the clubs.
The only other fixture was in the FAI Cup at Stradbrook back in August 2019. The tie finished 2-2 after extra time, with Cork winning 5-4 on penalties.
